IUFOB respects the privacy of Archive visitors and collects only information reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Archive.

Depending upon how you use the Archive, IUFOB may collect:

TERMS OF USE

The IUFOB Archive is provided for historical preservation, research, education, scholarship, journalism, and public study.

Users may browse, research, cite, and link to Archive materials subject to applicable law and the policies stated here.

Users may not:

• circumvent security or access controls;
• use automated systems to excessively scrape, harvest, download, or copy Archive content;
• systematically reproduce or redistribute substantial portions of the Archive;
• create or distribute a substantially duplicated or mirrored Archive;
• interfere with the operation or security of the website;
• falsely represent an affiliation with or endorsement by IUFOB; or
• use Archive materials in violation of applicable law or the rights of others.

IUFOB may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect the Archive, its systems, its materials, or the rights and safety of others.

IUFOB may modify, restrict, remove, restore, or reorganize Archive materials at any time.

The Archive is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, IUFOB makes no warranty regarding completeness, accuracy, authenticity, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit rights available under applicable law, including fair use.

COPYRIGHT, REPRODUCTION & PERMISSIONS

Rights Vary by Item

The Archive contains historical materials created by numerous individuals, organizations, agencies, publishers, photographers, correspondents, and other sources.

Accordingly, IUFOB does not claim copyright ownership over third-party materials merely because they are preserved or displayed within the Archive. Rights status may differ from item to item.

IUFOB does reserve all applicable rights in original materials created or owned by IUFOB, including website content, original research, written descriptions, graphics, photography, video, compilations, and other protectable works.

Research and Citation

Researchers, students, educators, journalists, and members of the public are encouraged to link to and cite Archive records.

Preferred attribution:

Where practicable, digital publications should include a live link to the applicable Archive record.

Publication, Media & Commercial Use

Publication, broadcast, documentary, television, film, streaming, commercial website, book, magazine, promotional, merchandising, or other commercial reproduction of Archive materials may require written permission and/or licensing where IUFOB owns or controls the applicable rights.

Licensing fees may apply.

IUFOB may waive fees for educational, scholarly, nonprofit, journalistic, or other uses at its discretion.

Permission from IUFOB does not convey rights owned by third parties. Users are responsible for obtaining any additional permissions required from applicable copyright, privacy, publicity, trademark, or other rights holders.

ARCHIVE ACCESS & RESPONSIBLE USE POLICY

The IUFOB Archive preserves materials as historical records.

Materials may contain opinions, allegations, theories, personal accounts, outdated terminology, incomplete information, disputed claims, or statements that have not been independently verified by IUFOB.

Historical records may also contain errors introduced by their original creators or through scanning, cataloging, transcription, optical character recognition (OCR), or other digitization processes. Researchers requiring exact wording should consult images of the original material whenever available.

Users should cite Archive materials accurately and should distinguish the contents of historical records from conclusions or positions of IUFOB.

The Archive is made available for legitimate research, educational, historical, journalistic, and public-interest purposes. Users are expected to use materials responsibly and with appropriate consideration for privacy, copyright, and the potential impact of historical allegations or sensitive information concerning living individuals.

COPYRIGHT & RIGHTS COMPLAINTS

IUFOB respects legitimate intellectual-property, privacy, and other rights and recognizes that historical collections may contain materials whose ownership or rights status is incomplete, disputed, or difficult to determine.

If you believe material appearing in the Archive infringes a copyright or other legal right you hold, please contact:

• your name and contact information;
• identification of the Archive material at issue;
• the URL or Archive record number;
• the nature of the right you claim;
• information supporting your ownership or authority to act for the rights holder; and
• the action you are requesting.

IUFOB will review good-faith claims and may temporarily restrict access to disputed material while a claim is evaluated.

Submission of a complaint does not automatically establish ownership or require permanent removal. IUFOB reserves the right to request additional documentation, seek legal advice, restore material when appropriate, or take other action consistent with applicable law.
